"The soundtrack revolves around a lilting theme that changes orchestration as the film progresses, starting off in almost jaunty mode on what sounds like a vibraphone before gradually building to a full orchestral swell at the end. Cave also puts in a cameo as a saloon strummer singing the Ballad of Jesse James – the song that more than anything, gave Robert Ford the bad PR image which Dominik's fine second outing attempts to reverse."

"I'm Not There" é o novo filme de Todd Haynes, realizador de, por exemplo, "Velvet Goldmine".
Nesta nova aventura pelo mundo da música Haynes tenta mostrar as várias fases da vida de Dylan. Todo o mundo fala e aguarda para ver a interpretação de Cate Blanchett como Dylan na sua fase mais andrógina.

Apesar da especulação em torno do filme, o que parece vir a ser um acontecimento é a respectiva O.S.T..
